Have you ever wondered what the Star Wars universe would have been like, had Anakin and Padme chosen a different path, choosing love and devotion over duty and responsibility, following their hearts instead of their heads? So have I...
As ripples move away from a rock thrown into a pond, so do the decisions in our lives affect the outcome of certain events; this is the way of things, the way of the Force, as Master Yoda would say.
But if the rock is thrown into a different place -- or if it is not thrown at all -- then the pattern of the ripples changes, and so the outcome of the events they affect changes with them...
It is this premise, this law of nature, which shapes my story; one fateful decision, made by the heart instead of by the head.
Could there have been a happy ending for Anakin and Padme? Could love and devotion have emerged victorious over pain, loss, and suffering? If so, how would it have affected the lives of so many others in the Star Wars universe? And, how would the sinister forces of the Dark Side have responded?
That's the basis for my story. A single, solitary decision, made by two people desperately in love, and it creates ripples that drastically affect the lives of everyone around them... and those of people they don't even know.
I invite you to follow along with me, gentle reader, as I explore the dangers, rewards, and possibilities of a romance destined to fail... but determined to win.
